Warning Critical Review: Having read through the entire book, as well as gone to the live book launch I have to say this book is... a prequel. I'll explain;Picture Thanksgiving dinner and someone stands up to do the prayer, everyone is starving, hungry for this juicy, delicious dinner that they were promised and are about to receive. The smells, the fantastic flavors, the time, work and money that has gone into the making of this dinner, and we are all waiting for it. All of us bow our heads in prayer and the head of the family begins to speak the prayer.The head of household speaks... and speaks... and speaks... and speaks... on and on and your stomach is growling, hungry, starving - you just want to take a big bite out of this meal in front of you. The leader of the family keeps praying, keeps repeating stories that you've already heard, on and on and eventually when the words stop coming... the food gets cold and you are left with a meal half as good as it should have been.This book is missing the heat, the right out of the oven feel in your mouth. (Missing the Pitta using the book's terms)The beginning of the book holds promise, and although it is more autobiographical in many parts, it feels like soul was really put into it. It feels authentic, real, and passionate. Midway through there is a clear shift where it feels like a repetition of previously stated information with no real actionable steps aside from "Feel into it" and "trust your intuition" Even the live Q and A (where she answered 4 questions) was just a repetition of the same stories - though part of that was possibly the participants who must have not read the book before attending.Discover Your Dharma continues to fizzle out in the last quarter where chakras are flitted over as if by afterthought. Then there's talk of a blueprint which in essence continues to repeat much of the same things that were talked about in the beginning of the book. By the end you are wondering... "Well... what do I do now?"You then find out at the end of the live book launch (and probably on social media by the time you read this) that she now offers a 21 day class for 'ONLY' 99 dollars that she uses a scarcity tactic (only available for a few days!) to get you to buy. It's a little sickening. It's not a tactic that's new (most self help books are using this strategy because the book market just isn't what it use to be), but it's one that for me personally, leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If it was a book that was supposed to be a prequel to a class I was going to have to pay for then it would have been nice to know that beforehand. (I feel really bad for the suckers that were duped into buying multiple copies - yikes)This is a book not for everyone, and to be honest for some it may be triggering. Throughout the book it's clear that Sahara came from a life much different than the average person and is living a life much different than the average person. I believe she's authentic in her unique expression, but her intentions are questionable and she's missing the reality, she's missing the human part of all of this. And though she tries to make it seem like she's human by saying she's embarrassed she is a workaholic (scandelous!), it kind of comes off as condescending and detached.If you are looking for something that looks nice next to a bunch of your other spiritual self help books, wait until it goes on sale and buy it and maybe take the little archetype test inside because that part was fun(though the test was free online). Otherwise, maybe just get the kindle version if you are super curious. It was a very easy read, written in the way of spoken word which was approachable and a nice change of pace from other books and it does have some information if you dig deep, but nothing life altering, or helpful enough to really recommend it.--Tl;Dr - Despite what it may seem, this book is not going to show you how to make money doing the things you love to do. It's an inspirational autobiography with a mediocre personality test inside. It will look great on a shelf though. This is another incredible gift from Sahara Rose. She makes something like discovering you Dharma feel more approachable and possible. The wisdoms in this book is so needed during this time. Sahara breaks down how to find yourself where you are in the process and how to continue along the path. The exercises she created are so insightful and allow for deep connection and exploration of the universal pulls in your life. I am so happy this book came to me at this time and I know it will come to you when the time is right!
